Finding out you’re pregnant while in college can feel like time is at a standstill. Between classes, relationships, and campus life, you’re now faced with one of the biggest decisions of your life. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed, but you don’t have to face this moment alone.
At Vie Medical Clinic, we provide confidential services to help you take the next step. With the right support and information, you can move forward confidently.
Your Rights as a Pregnant Student
One of the most important things to know is that you have rights as a pregnant student. Title IX is a federal law that protects students from discrimination due to pregnancy or parenting status. That means your school is legally required to provide reasonable accommodations and ensure you have equal access to your education if it receives funds.
Under Title IX, your school must:
- Allow you to continue participating in classes and extracurricular activities
- Provide you with reasonable adjustments (i.e., more frequent restroom trips) because of your pregnancy
- Not require a doctor’s note for hospitalization after childbirth (unless the school requires a note from all students hospitalized for physical or emotional conditions)
- Provide excused absences for pregnancy and childbirth
If you ever feel mistreated or unsupported, contact your campus Title IX coordinator. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
Making an Informed Decision
While people close to you may offer advice or strong opinions, the choice is ultimately yours. Only you can decide; no one, including your parents or friends, can choose for you.
At Vie Medical Clinic, we offer free pregnancy testing and, if eligible, an ultrasound to confirm your pregnancy. From there, we’ll walk through all of your options—parenting, adoption, and abortion—in a judgment-free environment.
If you’re interested in parenting or adoption, we can help you find support for housing, education, material items, and more. If you’re unsure what to do next, that’s okay. We’re here to listen, answer questions, and provide care as you explore each possibility.
You’re Not Alone
An unexpected pregnancy doesn’t mean your dreams are over. With accurate information and a support system, you can move forward.
Schedule your free, confidential appointment with Vie Medical Clinic today. We’re here for you every step of the way.
Vie Medical Clinic does not provide or refer for abortions.
